A Certain Ratio are post-punk band formed in Greater Manchester. The band were among the first to debut on Tony Wilson's Factory Records in 1979.

Mancunian singer and guitarist Kirsty McGee is well known within the Folk scene, although her music references Americana, Blues, Jazz and Rockabilly genres, and is influenced by the style of the Beatnik subculture.

Mint Royale is the alias of electronic music producer Neil Claxton and, until 2004, a duo consisting of himself and Chris Baker, originating from Manchester.

Liverpool born actor, comedian, DJ and presenter Craig Charles is known round these parts for his Funk and Soul Club. We have lots of material in the archive relating to this popular club night. This poster is for an event with The Mouse Outfit, a Manchester Hip hop production team + live band.

Lou Rhodes is a singer songwriter from Manchester, now living in Wiltshire. She is known for providing vocals and lyrics for the band Lamb, and has a successful solo career.

Manchester born Josephine Oniyama has Jamaican and Nigerian roots that are reflected in her songs, which cover genres from gospel and country to soul music.

GoGo Penguin are a band from Manchester, featuring pianist Chris Illingworth, bassist Nick Blacka and drummer Jon Scott. The band's music features break-beats, piano melodies and drums inspired from electronica. Their music incorporates elements of electronica, trip-hop, jazz, rock and classical music

Chethams School of Music is an independent school situated in the former Chetham's Hospital School, which itself was  the site of Manchester Castle. It is also home to the music venue Stoler Hall. 
Notable alumni include Doug Naylor (writer of Red Dwarf)  Mike Lindup (of Level 42 fame) Roger Wright (former director BBC Proms) and actor Max Beesley

Baked A la ska are an 11 piece ska band from Manchester. They have become known for their Halloween and Christmas shows.
The band have released four albums showcasing their trademark mix of spaced out and spooky originals plus quirky covers that have been put through their ska machine. There are lots of other Baked A La Ska posters in the main collection.
